How to play

Online in 60 seconds.

Java, Bedrock, or somewhere in between — Avantos works on every platform Minecraft does. Pick your version below for the exact steps.

  1. Open Minecraft Java 1.21.x
    Any version from 1.21 to 1.21.11 works thanks to ViaVersion. Older versions (1.16+) might work but the resource pack will be limited.
  2. Click Multiplayer → Add Server
    In the Minecraft main menu, click "Multiplayer", then "Add Server" at the bottom.
  3. Enter the IP
    Server name: anything. Server address: play.avantosgens.com
  4. Accept the resource pack
    When you join you'll be prompted to download the custom pack. Click "Yes, always" — required for the custom textures, items and shaders.
  5. Type /island and start grinding
    You spawn in the lobby. Type /island to claim your skyblock and begin.

Avantos uses Geyser and Floodgate so PC players and mobile/console players play together — same chat, same auction house, same dungeons.

The most common joining problems and how to fix them.

"Can't connect to server" or "Connection timed out"
1. Double-check the IP: play.avantosgens.com (no extra spaces, no http://).
2. Make sure your Minecraft version is 1.21+.
3. Restart Minecraft entirely.
4. Check our Discord status channel — server might be restarting.
"Outdated client" or "Outdated server" error
You're on an old Minecraft version. Update to 1.21 or newer in your launcher. ViaVersion handles 1.21–1.21.11 automatically.
Resource pack won't download / stuck on screen
1. Click "Yes" or "Yes, always" on the prompt.
2. If it freezes: leave the server, in Minecraft go to Options → Resource Packs → reset, then rejoin.
3. Slow connection? The pack is ~50 MB — give it time.
4. Still broken? Disable other resource packs you have active.
I see weird symbols / squares instead of icons
The custom resource pack didn't load. Reconnect and accept the pack prompt. If it keeps happening: Settings → Resource Packs → make sure "Server resource packs" is allowed.
"Invalid session" / "Failed to login" (Java)
Restart your Minecraft launcher and re-login to your Microsoft account. This is a Mojang authentication issue, not a server issue.
I'm on Bedrock and it says "Could not connect"
1. Double-check the port: 25565 (not 19132).
2. Some networks (school/work WiFi) block game ports — try mobile data.
3. Make sure your Minecraft Bedrock is updated to the latest version.
How do I find my friend's island once I'm in?
Use /island visit <username> to teleport to their island (if they have it open). Or have them invite you with /island invite <you>.
Server feels laggy — why?
Check your ping in the tablist (Tab key on Java). High ping = your internet, not the server. Low ping but laggy = the server might be busy — check our Discord for status.
